Copper eases near $4.30 per pound

Copper backed off from around two month high but stayed steady amid mostly positive cues from global equities. The COMEX Copper futures are currently quoting at $4.32 per pound, down 0.40% on the day. Meanwhile, in Asia, China's Shanghai Composite index added 0.44%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index slipped marginally. European market saw mixed moves. German DAX is up 0.30% on the day. US stocks moved mostly lower early in the session on Friday but regained ground over the course of the trading day. While the Dow inched up 0.1% to a new record closing high, the S&P 500 slipped 0.2% and the Nasdaq fell 0.4% to 17,948.32. However, the major averages all posted strong gains for the week. The Dow surged by 1.6%, while the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 rallied by 1.5% and 1.4% respectively.
