China recorded a record current account surplus of $165.6 billion in the first quarter of 2025, up sharply from $47.2 billion in the same period last year. The goods surplus rose to $237.6 billion as exports increased 9.4 percent to $825.9 billion while imports declined 6.6 percent to $588.3 billion. The services deficit narrowed slightly to $59.3 billion from $61.3 billion, and the primary income gap decreased to $15.4 billion from $20.1 billion. The secondary income surplus remained steady at $2.7 billion.
