Economic Buzz: German wholesale price 0.8% higher in April

The selling prices in wholesale trade were 0.8% higher in April 2025 than in April 2024. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the rate of change was +1.3% in March 2025, and +1.6% in February 2025.

The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that wholesale prices in April 2025 declined by 0.1% on March 2025.

The main reason for the year-on-year increase in wholesale prices (total) in April 2025 were higher prices in the wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco, with prices up 4.6% from April 2024, on average.
