Economic Buzz: Singapore's Q1 surplus widens despite narrowing goods trade balance

Singapore's current account surplus rose to SGD 34.61 billion in Q1 2025 from SGD 33.52 billion a year earlier, the largest since Q2 2022. The services surplus grew to SGD 15.48 billion, driven by strong transport and freight services. The primary income deficit narrowed to SGD 23.10 billion, while the secondary income gap eased slightly to SGD 2.61 billion. However, the goods surplus fell to SGD 44.84 billion amid rising imports.
