Economic Buzz: Australia's job growth stalls as part-time positions drop
19-Jun-2025 11:49
Australia's employment fell by 2,500 in May 2025 to 14.62 million, posting the first decline since February and following a big surge in April that was revised down to 87,600. The drop came mainly from part-time jobs, which plunged by 41,200 to 4.52 million, erasing last month's modest gains. However, full-time employment rose by 38,700 to a fresh record of 10.10 million, though the pace slowed compared to April. The overall employment-to-population ratio slipped by 0.1 point to 64.2%.
