Economic Buzz: China retail sales grow 0.9% in December

China's retail trade increased by 0.9% in December 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, according to a report by the National Bureau of Statistics released on Monday. Retail sales were down by 0.1% month-on-month.

In 2025, the total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 3.7% annually, while services added 5.5%. Online retail jumped 8.6% compared to 2024, with online sales of physical goods improving by 5.2% on a yearly basis, accounting for 26.1% of the total retail sales of consumer goods.
