Australia's Monthly Inflation Gauge surged 1.0% month-on-month in December 2025, the fastest pace since December 2023, signaling renewed inflation momentum. The rise comes as the Reserve Bank of Australia kept the cash rate unchanged at 3.6% for a third consecutive meeting, noting that while inflation has cooled from its 2022 peak, risks have modestly tilted higher. Headline CPI eased to 3.4% year-on-year in November, still above the 2'3% target, with policymakers expecting only one more rate cut this year.
