Economic Survey 2026 has stated that with a good monsoon season, India's foodgrain production is estimated to have reached 357.73 million tonnes (MT) in Agriculture Year (AY) 2024'25, an increase of 25.4 MT over the previous year, marking a rise of around 7.10%. This growth has been driven by higher output of rice, wheat, maize and coarse cereals (Shree Anna). Despite rising foodgrain output, horticulture, accounting for about 33 per cent of agricultural GVA, has emerged as a key driver of agricultural growth. In 2024-25, horticulture production reached 362.08 million tonnes (MT), surpassing the estimated food grain production.
