Electricity Futures on a rebound as power demand set to soar

Domestic electricity futures are well supported on demand hopes as summer is intensifying. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that heat wave conditions very likely to prevail over isolated pockets of northwest, central, & adjoining east India during next 4- 5 days. MCX Electricity Futures are rising this week after a decline in last week. India's peak power demand surged to nearly 239 GW on April 18, the highest this summer, driven by soaring temperatures. The MCX ELECDMBL futures for April 2026 are currently trading at Rs 4980 per MWH, up 0.14% on the day. The counter had started in a negative zone but edged up as the day progressed.
