Economic Buzz: UK inflation up from 3% to 3.3% in March
The document attributed the rise in the overall rate to the prices of transport, principally motor fuels, a consequence of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. They rose by 4.7% compared to March 2025 and 2.4% from the previous month. Those were followed by the prices of housing and household services, and, to a lesser extent, food and non-alcoholic beverages, and recreation and culture.
The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) increased by 3.4% on an annual basis and 0.6% on a monthly one. CPI, excluding energy and food, grew by 3.1% year-on-year, while month-on-month, it decreased slightly from February's 3.2%.
