Economic Buzz: US ISM manufacturing activity rises in May

Activity in the United States' manufacturing sector accelerated in May, the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) said in its report published on Monday. The Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) climbed 1.3 percentage points from April to 54.0%, its highest level since May 2022.

Meanwhile, the Employment Index advanced by 2.2 percentage points to 48.6%. The Production Index increased by 0.9 percentage point to 54.3%, while the New Orders Index jumped 2.7 percentage points to 56.8%.
