Economic Buzz: US initial jobless claims up by 13,000 to 225,000

The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States increased by 13,000 from last week's revised figure to 225,000 in the week ending May 30, the Department of Labor revealed in its report on Thursday. Meanwhile, the four-week moving average rose by 6,500 from the previous week's revised average to reach 214,750.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending May 23 stood at 1.2%, unchanged from the week before. Meanwhile, the insured unemployed figure for the same week stood at 1,777,000, going down by 8,000 from the previous week's revised figure, and the four-week moving average was up by 4,750 to land at 1,777,250.
