Economic Buzz: Eurozone goods trade deficit at '7.8B in May
In the euro area, exports rose 0.1% year-on-year to '243.6 billion, while imports rose 10% to '251.4 billion. Eurostat said that the sharp decline in the trade balance was primarily driven by a widening of the energy deficit and by reduced surpluses in machinery and vehicles, as well as in chemical and related products.
In the EU, exports dropped 1.1% annually to '215.7 billion, while imports increased 10.8% to '227.8 billion.
