UK shop price inflation eased sharply in July, with the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Shop Price Index rising just 0.9% year-on-year. This decline signals a continued moderation in retail price pressures across the British high street and online channels. The BRC-NielsenIQ Shop Price Index tracks changes in prices across a wide basket of goods sold in UK retail stores. July's reading of 0.9% represents a notable deceleration from the previous month's figure and undershot market expectations. This marks the lowest annual increase in shop prices in recent months.
