Economic Buzz: US private payrolls up by 44,000 in July, says ADP

Private payrolls in the United States rose by 44,000 in July, Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) said in its report published on Wednesday.

Most new hirings, 27,000, were registered in small enterprises with between 1 and 19 employees. Large enterprises with more than 500 staff members employed 13,000 new workers. Mid-sized enterprises with between 250 and 499 employees hired 6,000 people, while those with between 50 and 249 workers hired 2,000. On the other hand, small enterprises with between 20 and 49 employees dismissed 4,000 posts.

Among sectors, health and education services led the way with 36,000 new hirings. They were followed by financial activities with 10,000 added jobs, and professional and business services with 9,000. On the other hand, leisure and hospitality saw 11,000 layoffs.
